Sucessful practice

The right frame of mind is important to have. I read the following advice from Grandmaster Chen Zhenglei, one of the standard bearers for Chen style Taiji:

"Don't stir the heart. Don't forget [stay focused], don't assist
[don't force]. Practice intently, succeed inadvertently."
Chen Zhenglei "Chen style Taijiquan for Life Enhancement" pg. 72.

The last sentence in the original Chinese uses the character 'yi' which roughly means 'intention'. More literally translated the sentence reads, "Have intention [for] practice, without intention [for] success". The character'yi' links intention with the heart and so the phrase 'don't stir the heart'.
